A question on Theos, used through out the new testament(s various versions) available in greek translated to english as God.

Where "specifically" can i look for source materials or original text (or as close as i can get) that either show Theos as the correct translation and therefore God is translated correctly or disprove it by way of demonstration that the actual text in the 1st or early second century of the scriptures used did not use this word.
Since the apostles where active and talked to numerous people who wrote about them I.E Clement, Ignatius, etc... there should be something available.
I get disgusted reading the english text of writers that immediately (before all the apostles died) started to twist the renewed testament into Catholicism. Or the translators yet again twisted the words of solid men. Even their text I get in translated english so it doesn't help anyways.
