KP - Hope you are still out there. In FH you said:
Quote:
"Thus Babylon shall sink and not rise from the catastrophe that I will bring upon her. And they shall be weary."’" (Jeremiah 51:26, 60-64) "Desolate forever," and "sink and not rise" sound to me like the city of Babylon is finished as a political entity. It will never rise from the sands of Iraq to be anything more than an archaeological dig, a tourist attraction. The spirit of Babylon however, the insidious fraud designed to replace Yahweh in the hearts of men, is a different story. That never left.

On Wednesday, for all intents and purposes, Iraq was unshackled from the world and UN restrictions of the Sadam era and are now a free and sovereign nation. They are a democratic nation sitting on an estimated $15 to $25 trillion dollars worth of oil (not to mention lots of natural gas, gold, etc). Iraq appears set to reenter the world stage as a (semi)stable, very wealthy nation. As they come into their wealth over the next few years and rebuild their national and private infrastructure, they have the potential to become a rebirth of the Babylon of history.

Any thoughts on how this might unfold as prophecy?
“Because he clings to Me, is joined to Me, loves and delights in Me, desires Me, therefore I will deliver him, carry him safely away, cause him to escape from harm making him inaccessible and strong, and delivering him safely to heaven, because he has known, observed, cared for, recognized, instructed and advised others to use, designated, acknowledged, discerned, answered in, My name, authority, character, report, mark, and nature." Psalm 91:14

One thing that'll be interesting to watch will be their relationship with Turkey.
Many think Turkey plays a big role in the final fulfillment of some of Daniel's writings.
How well Turkey and Iraq get along will depend on which direction their government heads --
Shia, Sunni, or Secular.

Not to mention the influence of Iran, the Persia of old...
