What qualifies a quote to get the status of a direct quote from the Old Covenant Scriptures? For example, Luke 1:69-70 says (and I apologise for my quick NIV cut and paste):

"He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David (as he said through his holy prophets of long ago)"

Would the following Old Covenant verses qualify:

1 Samuel 2:1 "Then Hannah prayed and said, 'My heart exults in Yahweh; My horn is exalted in Yahweh, My mouth speaks boldly against my enemies, Because I rejoice in Your salvation.'"

1 Samuel 2:10 "Those who contend with Yahweh will be shattered; Against them He will thunder in the heavens, Yahweh will judge the ends of the earth; And He will give strength to His king, And will exalt the horn of His anointed."

Psalm 18:2 "Yahweh is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold."

Psalm 89:17 "For You are the glory of their strength, And by Your favor our horn is exalted."

Psalm 132:17 "There I will cause the horn of David to spring forth; I have prepared a lamp for Mine anointed."

Ezekiel 29:21 "On that day I will make a horn sprout for the house of Israel, and I will open your mouth in their midst. Then they will know that I am Yahweh."

So what qualifies a verse and what disqualifies a verse?

I reckon only direct quotes qualify, which I think is the case of Swalchy's work-in-progress, and prophetic fulfillment I reckon should be put under a separate heading unless of course the author specifically quoted an Old Covenant verse to show prophetic fulfillment. Maybe there should be a seperate heading such as this Luke one which doesn't seem like a direct quote at first but is definitely in reference to an Old Covenant passage with similar words used.

Perhaps too we should highlight quotes that contain placeholders ;)

Great work you start Swalchy!!!

PS: Did anyone notice a link between Luke 1:69 and Psalm 18:2 which says that Yahshua is the horn of salvation and Yahweh is the horn of salvation respectively, in other words confirming the Yahshua is Yahweh?

Now there's a great research opportunity for some enterprising soul: identify all of the places in scripture where Yahweh and Yahshua are ascribed the same identity. I've stumbled across dozens of them over the years, without even looking for them. I'll bet there are hundreds of them.

(and when I said this a while back, and tried to explain it, people laughed. Oh well...enjoy...and with the term Jehovah here I am referring to יהוה Elohim not Master יהוה. The two are mostly different, but this is another topic)...

I decided to moderate the above post in the hope that PS would expand a little on what it is he is trying to say?

Creating a post with random quotes and no real introduction to the reasoning is a little odd - so if you could expand a little on whatever the point is that would be great...

EDIT: AHH it was in response to kens last sentence... I shall add it as a quote to the top of the post...
