I am sure that you guys have talked about this before. I wanted to ask few questions. How many of you still celebrate your birthday? Is there anyone who has kids? Do you celebrate their birthday(s)? If you have a wife who does not feel like you and she wants to celebrate B-days, how did you handle this?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Hey Robski, thank you for answering and it is good to be able to post. I don't consider it chickening out at all. I would like other view points on the reliability and validity of information linking birthdays to paganism, along with some 'real-life' scenarios on how individuals here have decided or not decided to put this information into use and their justification of why. I found a pdf here that talked about the issue...

Here is a link in which a Baptist Pastor defends celebrating birthdays

Here is a muslim scholar’s take on the birthday situation. NOTICE how he takes a stab at Jews and Christians, subtle but nonetheless

Of course we all know about the three times that birthdays were mentioned in the Bible and the outcomes associated with them, however, this does not necessitate a conclusion of 'birthdays should not be celebrated'. Looking forward to any thoughts….

As far as my studies go Robski, thanks for asking. It makes me feel good that you actually thought about it. I actually only have one more week of classes to go and I will be completely finished with my class work. It has been long and trying, especially with my situation, however just like YHWH said he would, he has brought me through the furnace and continues to quicken me. I begin my residencies in August.

Shalom,

Again, remember what KP said in another post? Celebrate every day! But remember the Set-Apart Days!

Personally, I understand the pagan origins of birthdays, and I understand, Lew White's view that it is linked to astrology. That being said, I see no reason not to celebrate the day someone you love came into this world. Particularly if that person has effected your life in a positive way, e.g. your children. As long as you don't turn it into some kind of self reverential festival.

Just me though.
Don't take my word for it, Look it up.

EI, the thread below should give you some instant feedback on your topic. There is at least one other thread, just click Search on the Forum toolbar above and search birthday.

“Because he clings to Me, is joined to Me, loves and delights in Me, desires Me, therefore I will deliver him, carry him safely away, cause him to escape from harm making him inaccessible and strong, and delivering him safely to heaven, because he has known, observed, cared for, recognized, instructed and advised others to use, designated, acknowledged, discerned, answered in, My name, authority, character, report, mark, and nature." Psalm 91:14
