Psalm 68:4 (New King James Version)
4 Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Extol Him who rides on the clouds,[a] By His name YAH, And rejoice before Him.
I found this in the NKJV

I found this in the NKJV My palm version of the KJV Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him. that's a lot closer than I was expecting to find :) |
“Because he clings to Me, is joined to Me, loves and delights in Me, desires Me, therefore I will deliver him, carry him safely away, cause him to escape from harm making him inaccessible and strong, and delivering him safely to heaven, because he has known, observed, cared for, recognized, instructed and advised others to use, designated, acknowledged, discerned, answered in, My name, authority, character, report, mark, and nature." Psalm 91:14 |

The Hebrew Yah (the shortened form of Yahweh) appears 49 times (7 x 7. Big surprise there :-) in the Tanach. In most versions it is invariably rendered "the Lord." I have no idea why.

What do you guys make up of Bono from U2? He's pretty open about his Christian faith. U2 even have a hit song called "Yahweh."

From previous experience, nothing ever good comes from discussing music or music bands on here, so If we could keep the U2 talk down, considerate and well-mannered, we of the mod team shall remain happy :D I think we've discussed Bono before but I can't find the topic due to the search function not working. Anyway, one song I find incredibly awesome is the song "Yahweh" performed by Morning Star Ministries (an Apostolic-Prophetic Movement church, sort-of Pentecostal church): Live performance, click HERE, starts saying Yahweh at 2 min into video CD version, click HERE, my preferred one. Starts singing Yahweh at about 1:30 into the video (well audio) clip. Come to think of it, this could've been the song that would inspire some 3 years later after hearing it to seek God through His true Name. This song just stuck in my mind, and as a Christian (before I knew God as I do now) I would always sing it to myself. I kinda think Yah used it to get to me ;)

Shalom,
Aaah... music being food of the soul... but not always! I listened to U2's Yahweh and those guys make good music but don't have a clue about the name of the song. I'm sure there are many others out there who may have heard the Name but think it is an obscure reference to a Jewish god. I do not get excited when people use His name unless I know their context. |
The reverence of Yahweh is the beginning of Wisdom. |
