Word up me homies.

I was just reading Isaiah 50, by chance, and it starts like this:

NIV (Sorry Swalchy) wrote:
1 This is what the LORD says:
"Where is your mother's certificate of divorce
with which I sent her away?
Or to which of my creditors
did I sell you?
Because of your sins you were sold;
because of your transgressions your mother was sent away.

The mother was sent away because of sin? Set-Apart Spirit reference or not? Is this what it actually says in the DSS/Oldest manuscripts...?

Peace!

From the DSS Bible:

And looking at it, it could definitely be in reference to the Set-apart Spirit, with regards to Her removal from Yisra'el

Edit: I thought you had a Copy of the DSS Bible? I swear it's on your shelf in your office dude

yea I do - but its far to confusing for me when I just want to have a quick read :) Plus I know how much you love the NIV and I thought the fact that this was in the "normal bible" it would be an interesting thing to see a mother figure being removed... and so on... :D

Yada covers Isaiah 50 in the Zarowa' chapter in the Salvation section, but he has no reference to the word "mother."

from YY wrote:
"Where is the bill of divorce? ...Why then when I came, was no one there? Why when I called, would no one respond? Is My arm too short to rescue you? Have I not the power to save?"(Isaiah 50:1)

He keeps commentary to a minumum by just introducing Isaiah 50 and 51 in the chapter in order to serve as an introduction to the following chapter, Ga'al, where he digs into Isaiah 52 and 53.

I started from Gen 1:1 to read the scriptures with my wife and kids (a chapter a night approx). We are now on Isaiah 52.. coincidence that I just read this forum post?? I DON'T THINK SO !! :) Ps- I told them to be ready for Isa 53, as it just may be the most powerful verse in scripture. Any disagreement/agreement with that?
