The GJiGT may have been the first to say that there may not even be 2008 US presidential elections, and that if there are, it will make no difference to the Bush-Clinton- Bush syndicated of Sudden Destruction. Now there are many who have subsequently taken a serious look, and are now saying the same thing.

The stock markets are only a small part of the problem. The rising unemployment will be going up more sharply with the layoffs at financial firms. Other sectors, like Hewlett-Packard for example, just announced that it would let 25,000 people go. Even healthy firms will be cutting jobs to lessen the impact of falling sales. The typical American has NO equity left in his home. Many retirement savings accounts have already been hit hard with more to come. The so-called credit market seems no longer to even be. When the banks will not lend to one another, then lending to customers is seen clearly to be out of the question.
