This story appeared today on CNN:

Story Highlights
- Treasury Department: Group has received training, aid from al Qaeda-linked groups
- Government: RSM has provided "field operatives...recruits" to Abu Sayyaf, JI-
- Philippine National Police chief welcomes U.S. move

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Bush administration moved Monday to impose financial sanctions against a Philippines-based group, its leader and other members accused of terrorist acts.

The action against the Rajah Solaiman Movement, its leader, Ahmad Santos, and other alleged members...

I wanted to know more about the "Rajah Solaiman Movement," so I checked online. From Wikidpedia:

Quote:
Rajah Solaiman Movement is a terrorist organization founded by Ahmed Santos after he converted to Islam [1]. Its membership consists of Filipino Christians who have converted to Islam and it is now one of the top worries for Philippines' intelligence services. [2]. According to Filipino authorities, the group's members have been trained, financed and directed by Abu Sayyaf and Jemaah Islamiah, a regional terrorist group with links to Al Qaeda [2].

The group is named after Rajah Solaiman, the last king of Manila before the Spanish conquest in the 1500s, which introduced Catholicism along with European rule [2]. Similar to Abu Sayyaf, the converts belonging to this group claim they want to remake the country into an Islamic state. [2]

Surprise, surpirse.

Radical cleric in UK freed
Wednesday, 18 June , 2008, 18:40

London: A radical Muslim cleric, described as Osama bin Laden's right hand man in Europe, has been released by a local court in London, but has to wear a 'electronic tag.'

Abu Qatada, whose sermons are believed to have influenced the September 11 attackers and shoe bomber Richard Reid, was released from prison on Tuesday night after winning his fight against deportation from Britain.

However, he must wear an 'electronic tag,' remain in his home for 22 hours a day and cannot use a mobile phone. Also, he cannot go to a mosque and is specifically barred from associating with bin Laden and fellow Muslim cleric Abu Hamza.

The 47-year-old's curfew is expected to cost about 500,000 pounds a year to enforce. Qatada is also banned from receiving visitors to his home, apart from family members, lawyers, emergency services personnel and children under 10.

Justice Mitting at the Special Immigration Appeals Commission ruled that there were no grounds to detain Abu Qatada after previous attempts to deport him were defeated in the courts.

The decision to release the Jordanian-born cleric, who is on asylum, was greeted with dismay by the government. Home Secretary Jacqui smith said: "I am extremely disappointed. I am appealing to the House of Lords to reverse the decision that it is not safe to deport Qatada."

His release came as Prime Minister Gordon Brown said 21st century solutions were needed to deal with global terror threats and organised crime. The Special Immigration Appeals commission, which released him, previously labelled him as 'truly dangerous individual.'

In order to please all men, we open our doors to murderers, liars and thieves. When it comes to pleasing our Creator, we seem to draw blanks at the highest levels of government. This is the world we live in. Is there any chance of starting a new country where we are able to keep such demons in human form out? I guess not as the "experiment" to do so failed three millenia ago. We seem to be masochists when it comes to spiritual knowledge. No wonder He laments that His people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
The reverence of Yahweh is the beginning of Wisdom.

Yeah, bitnet. The "new country" of which you speak is called the Millennial Kingdom (a.k.a., the Kingdom of God, a.k.a., the Kingdom of Heaven.) Our "Dependence Day" (not independence, which is what the world wants) will, unless I miss my guess, happen on October 8 (that's Tishri 15, the Feast of Tabernacles), 2033. No more PC foolishness or demonic deception.

U.S. trains Iraqi women to find female suicide bombers

YUSUFIYA, Iraq (CNN) -- Female suicide bombers, who often slip through security checkpoints untouched because of cultural norms, are taking a more deadly toll than ever across Iraq.

But the U.S. Army has created a solution with "Daughters of Iraq," a program that trains Iraqi women to find female suicide bombers.

Women carried out eight bombings in all of 2007, according to the U.S. military. Halfway through 2008, the number of female suicide bombers is 20. A suicide attack carried out by a woman on Sunday in Baquba killed at least 16 people and wounded another 40.

"Daughters of Iraq" is a spinoff of "Sons of Iraq," which employs Iraqi men to run checkpoints and is credited with taking much of the steam out of the insurgency.

The goal of the women's program is twofold: to protect against female suicide bombers, and to provide much-needed income to Iraqi women with few chances for employment.

In the town of Yusufiya, southwest of Baghdad, some 30 women are being trained to search other females at security checkpoints -- something men are forbidden to do under Iraqi cultural norms...

Watch how 'Daughters of Iraq' works.

Hamas MP/Cleric's Friday Sermon: We Will Conquer Rome, the Two Americas, and Eastern Europe

In a Friday sermon that aired on Hamas' Al-Aqsa TV on April 11, 2008, Yunis Al-Astal, Hamas MP and cleric, told worshipers that Rome, "the capital of the Catholics, or the Crusader capital," would soon be conquered by Islam, just as Constantinople was. It then, he said, would become "an advanced post for the Islamic conquests, which will spread through Europe in its entirety, and then will turn to the two Americas, and even Eastern Europe."

The following are excerpts from Al-Astal's sermon:

Yunis Al-Astal: "Allah has chosen you for Himself and for His religion, so that you will serve as the engine pulling this nation to the phase of succession, security, and consolidation of power, and even to conquests thorough da'wa and military conquests of the capitals of the entire world.

"Very soon, Allah willing, Rome will be conquered, just like Constantinople was, as was prophesized by our Prophet Muhammad.

"Today, Rome is the capital of the Catholics, or the Crusader capital, which has declared its hostility to Islam, and has planted the brothers of apes and pigs in Palestine in order to prevent the reawakening of Islam. This capital of theirs will be an advanced post for the Islamic conquests, which will spread through Europe in its entirety, and then will turn to the two Americas, and even Eastern Europe.

"I believe that our children, or our grandchildren, will inherit our jihad and our sacrifices, and, Allah willing, the commanders of the conquest will come from among them.

"Today, we instill these good tidings in their souls - and by means of the mosques and the Koran books, and the history of our Prophets, his companions, and the great leaders, we prepare them for the mission of saving humanity from the hellfire at whose brink they stand."

It's amazing how their true thoughts, so in line with the actual perverse doctrine of the Islamic scriptures, comes through when they think no one is listening. To the world (in English) they shout "Islam is a peaceful religion." But at home (in Arabic) they say what they're really thinking: they will "save humanity from hellfire" by killing or enslaving them. They will spread their religion of peace by "military conquest." And this incitement to violent worldwide Islamic conquest is termed "good tidings." We're gonna need a lot more virgins.

A former Florida professor who had pleaded guilty to aiding a terror organization was indicted yesterday on criminal charges that he refused to testify before a grand jury investigating whether Islamic charities in Northern Virginia were financing terrorists.

The indictment of Sami al-Arian triggered outrage from his family and Muslim groups that have mounted a national campaign to secure his release from prison. Arian had already been jailed for a year on civil contempt charges. Legal experts said it is rare for the government to then add criminal counts.

"This is a really dirty game the government is playing," said Arian's daughter, Laila. "They've already put him through enough. Enough is enough. This will have repercussions in the American Muslim community and throughout the world."

Arian was accused in Tampa in 2003 of conspiracy to commit racketeering and murder and to aid the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group, but his trial ended two years later in an acquittal on some charges and a mistrial on others. He later pleaded guilty to a single count of conspiracy in one of the nation's highest-profile terrorism cases. He was sentenced to 57 months in prison, which he finished serving in April. He was expected to be deported, but prosecutors in Alexandria are seeking his testimony.

He was charged again yesterday in U.S. District Court in Alexandria with two counts of criminal contempt. He could face additional jail time if convicted, but there is no maximum or minimum penalty. [...]

Prosecutors in Alexandria want Arian to reveal what they think are his ties to the International Institute of Islamic Thought, or IIIT, a Herndon think tank that is one of the key organizations under investigation, according to Arian's lawyers and court documents. The six-year-old probe, which federal officials have called the nation's largest terrorism-financing investigation, is focused on a Herndon-based network of Muslim charities, businesses and think tanks. They have denied any terrorist ties.

The Northern Virginia investigation burst into public view in March 2002, when federal agents raided homes and businesses in Herndon and elsewhere in the region. Muslim groups have labeled the probe a fishing expedition, but law enforcement officials have defended it as highly complicated, involving a complex trail of international transactions among corporations and charitable entities.

Arian, who taught computer science at the University of South Florida, twice refused to testify before the grand jury in Alexandria, on Oct. 16, 2007, and on March 20, according to yesterday's two-page indictment. His daughter said that he views it "as a matter of conscience" and that "he has nothing to offer."

Arian's attorney, Jonathan Turley, said his client has given prosecutors two detailed affidavits saying that he knows of no criminal activity involving IIIT and that the government has acknowledged he is a "minor witness." Turley said the indictment "is a continuation of a long campaign of abuse that has drawn international criticism."

After Arian was found guilty of civil contempt by a federal judge in Alexandria in 2006, he drew the strong backing of Muslim organizations, which held a news conference at Justice Department headquarters in Washington and called for a worldwide fast in support. Arian has gone on at least two hunger strikes in prison.

Ahmed Rehab, a spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, called yesterday's indictment a "ludicrous decision" that is "growing evidence that the kangaroo prosecution of Professor Al-Arian in fact extends beyond the pursuit of justice and into the realm of vindictive political persecution."

Truck bomb kills 7, wounds 3 in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- A truck bomb killed seven people, including six police officers, in a town north of Baghdad Sunday, police said.

Police said the bomb was remotely detonated when officers went to check on a small truck parked by the side of a road in Duluiya, north of Baghdad.

The explosion killed six officers and a member of the local Awakening Council, which are mostly Sunni groups that have turned against al Qaeda in Iraq, thus becoming their targets.

Two other officers and another Awakening Council member were also hurt in the blast.

In Diyala province, security guards at a checkpoint outside the al-Wajihiya City Council Center fired on a woman wearing an explosive vest, triggering her explosives, Baquba police said.

One person was wounded in the attack, which occurred around 7:30 a.m. The suicide bomber was killed.

EGYPT: Groups accuse Muslim actor Adel Imam of apostasy

The legendary Muslim movie star Adel Imam has been accused of apostasy by Facebook activists over his role as a Coptic Christian priest in the upcoming production "Hassan and Marcos," according to news reports.

Under the slogan "A call to all Muslims, boycott Christian Adel Imam," a Facebook group has recently launched a smear campaign against the actor. The group accuses him of promoting Christianity and discourages Muslims from attending the big-budget movie, which is expected to be released in early July, according to a report posted on the website of the pan-Arab satellite channel Al Arabiya.

This man is promoting conversion to Christianity and I am calling upon you to boycott him,” read the group’s mission statement. Another group was also created for the same purpose under the slogan “Boycott Imam’s new movie.”

The film, ironically, promotes national unity between Coptic Christians and Muslims through the relationship between a Coptic priest (Marcos), played by Imam, and a Muslim cleric (Hassan), played by Academy-Award nominated Omar Sharif. The criticism of Imam comes in a tense atmosphere marked by violent clashes between Muslims and Coptic Christians in Egypt.

Just picked this up at Daniel Pipes' website. Quite a good article. I'd prefer something sharper but I'd be labeled a rightist hawk.

The Enemy Has a Name

by Daniel Pipes
Jerusalem Post
June 19, 2008

If you cannot name your enemy, how can you defeat it? Just as a physician must identify a disease before curing a patient, so a strategist must identify the foe before winning a war. Yet Westerners have proven reluctant to identify the opponent in the conflict the U.S. government variously (and euphemistically) calls the "global war on terror," the "long war," the "global struggle against violent extremism," or even the "global struggle for security and progress."

This timidity translates into an inability to define war goals. Two high-level U.S. statements from late 2001 typify the vague and ineffective declarations issued by Western governments. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld defined victory as establishing "an environment where we can in fact fulfill and live [our] freedoms." In contrast, George W. Bush announced a narrower goal, "the defeat of the global terror network" – whatever that undefined network might be.

"Defeating terrorism" has, indeed, remained the basic war goal. By implication, terrorists are the enemy and counterterrorism is the main response.

But observers have increasingly concluded that terrorism is just a tactic, not an enemy. Bush effectively admitted this much in mid-2004, acknowledging that "We actually misnamed the war on terror." Instead, he called the war a "struggle against ideological extremists who do not believe in free societies and who happen to use terror as a weapon to try to shake the conscience of the free world."

A year later, in the aftermath of the 7/7 London transport bombings, British prime minister Tony Blair advanced the discussion by speaking of the enemy as "a religious ideology, a strain within the world-wide religion of Islam." Soon after, Bush himself used the terms "Islamic radicalism," "militant Jihadism," and "Islamo-fascism." But these words prompted much criticism and he backtracked.

By mid-2007, Bush had reverted to speaking about "the great struggle against extremism that is now playing out across the broader Middle East." That is where things now stand, with U.S. government agencies being advised to refer to the enemy with such nebulous terms as "death cult," "cult-like," "sectarian cult," and "violent cultists."

In fact, that enemy has a precise and concise name: Islamism, a radical utopian version of Islam. Islamists, adherents of this well funded, widespread, totalitarian ideology, are attempting to create a global Islamic order that fully applies the Islamic law (Shari‘a).

Thus defined, the needed response becomes clear. It is two-fold: vanquish Islamism and help Muslims develop an alternative form of Islam. Not coincidentally, this approach roughly parallels what the allied powers accomplished vis-à-vis the two prior radical utopian movements, fascism and communism.

First comes the burden of defeating an ideological enemy. As in 1945 and 1991, the goal must be to marginalize and weaken a coherent and aggressive ideological movement, so that it no longer attracts followers nor poses a world-shaking threat. World War II, won through blood, steel, and atomic bombs, offers one model for victory, the Cold War, with its deterrence, complexity, and nearly-peaceful collapse, offers quite another.

Victory against Islamism, presumably, will draw on both these legacies and mix them into a novel brew of conventional war, counterterrorism, counterpropaganda, and many other strategies. At one end, the war effort led to the overthrow of the Taliban government in Afghanistan; at the other, it requires repelling the lawful Islamists who work legitimately within the educational, religious, media, legal, and political arenas.

The second goal involves helping Muslims who oppose Islamist goals and wish to offer an alternative to Islamism's depravities by reconciling Islam with the best of modern ways. But such Muslims are weak, being but fractured individuals who have only just begun the hard work of researching, communicating, organizing, funding, and mobilizing.

To do all this more quickly and effectively, these moderates need non-Muslim encouragement and sponsorship. However unimpressive they may be at present, moderates, with Western support, alone hold the potential to modernize Islam, and thereby to terminate the threat of Islamism.

In the final analysis, Islamism presents two main challenges to Westerners: To speak frankly and to aim for victory. Neither comes naturally to the modern person, who tends to prefer political correctness and conflict resolution, or even appeasement. But once these hurdles are overcome, the Islamist enemy's objective weakness in terms of arsenal, economy, and resources means it can readily be defeated.

Are you kidding, bitnet? "Quite a good article?" At defining Pipes' errant views, maybe.

The enemy isn't within Islam, a radicalized version of Islam, or a twisted cult within Islam. The enemy IS Islam. It's not the "Islamists," al Qaeda, or any other group of "violent cultists." The violence stems directly and unequivocably from the Islamic scriptures---the Qur'an, the Hadith, and the Sunnah. If one does what Muhammad did, believes what Muhammad taught, and behaves as Muhammad commanded, one will be a violent, self-centered satan worshipper. If, however, he attempts to walk the road of peaceful coexistence within a Muslim cultural framework, he will cease being a Muslim. According to Muhammad, such people are not even part of Islam: they are, in his words, "hypocrites." For these people are reserved the hottest fires of hell---not the Jews, not the Christians---but the hypocrites who refused to "fight for Allah and his prophet with full force and weaponry." In short, Pipes (who himself is a CFR stooge) is asking that Muslims remain within their religion, but damn themselves to eternal torment (according to their scriptures) for his own convenience. It's like demanding that Christians abandon the efficacy of the blood of Christ, relying on good works instead to reconcile them with a holy God. It's nonsense.

Yahweh had a different (and totally counterintuitive) solution as we slide into the Last Days: "He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still." You want to reject the gift of God and live according to your own violent lusts, Mr. "Islamist?" Fine. Knock yourself out. The choice is yours to make. But on the other hand, "He who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still." (Revelation 22:11) If you're "righteous," washed by the atoning blood of Yahshua, then be holy---separate yourself from the world. We're not told to fight against Babylon; we're told to flee from it. What then is the solution to living in a world infected with the cancer of Islam? It's not to change the nature of Islam (though that might work if we lived in a world with no spiritual warfare going on). It's to let the world run its course, witnessing to the truth wherever we can find an audience, but not being willfully ignorant of the prophetic realities in play. Yahweh will Himself attend to Islam. If I have read the signs correctly, He will do so in nineteen or twenty years. At that time, the "iniquity of the Amorites," so to speak, will have been made full. But note that He asks us neither to fight militarily against Islam or subvert and dilute it from within (as Pipes would like to do). He asks us to do only what He's asked us to do for the last two millennia: be a witness to them, testify to the truth. The Muslims' god is an impotent fraud. That's why his stooges feel like they have to do his killing for him. Yahweh, on the other hand, will do His "wet work" Himself, when He's good and ready. We need not lift a finger to "help" Him.

That "sharp" enough for you, my friend?

Shalom,

Heh-heh! You picked on that straight away, KP! Pipes is an apologist for Islam and his article is nowhere near as sharp as what you guys write. Too many people are thinking that we can reason with them but we know that it is impossible. Light does not mix with dark. They are polar opposites. That is why it is so difficult for me to move around here. I have to tippy-toe and I almost became desperate last night when the YY server was blocked for a while. I think the Malaysian government or religious department are on to you guys by now, and I dread the day when I am cut off from everyone. It's time for me to start collecting personal emails instead of relying on the forum.

Coalition troop deaths in Afghanistan surpass Iraq

Story Highlights
* May and June death tolls for foreign troops were higher in Afghanistan than Iraq
* 46 U.S. and allied troops died in Afghanistan in June; 31 in Iraq
* Afghan deaths included troops from U.S., U.K., Canada, Poland, Romania, Hungary
* Same trend seen with civilian deaths, analysts say

(CNN) -- For the second month in a row, U.S. and allied troop deaths in the Afghan war have surpassed those in Iraq, according to official figures tallied by CNN.

In June, 46 foreign troops died in Afghanistan and 31 troops died in Iraq. In May, 23 foreign troops died in Afghanistan and 21 died in Iraq.

A Pentagon report issued last week about Afghanistan said security in many areas of the country is regarded as "fragile" and Taliban militants have regrouped into a "resilient insurgency" after the Taliban was toppled from power in 2001.

I wanted to get Yada's reaction to the Pipe article that was posted. I also asked him if he thought the US would intervene militarily in Iran. This was his response:

Quote:
No, I don't think America will ever go to war again, not in Iran, not anywhere. Iraq will set us back for twenty years and that's all the time we have.

The Pipe's article was dangerous rubbish, untrue, irrational, immoral, and unworkable. The problem is fundamentalist Islam. Therefore, it is not radical Islam. Moreover, it is immoral to suggest that a billion people trust their soul to a more civil version of something as clearly false and violent as Islam.

Everything Ken said is wise and accurate.

Just read the article, that's disturbing news. Let's hope the EU does something good for once and stand against this attempt by Islamic clerics to subdue the whole world to Sharia Law. It saddens me to read that a billion souls (Yada mentions 3 billion, including since when it began) are lost, due to Islam, but I find relief in Yah's Word saying He will bring it to an end suddenly. We will move into the next Millennium free of Islam, Political Correctness, Catholicism, etc...

Iraq, U.S. discuss troop withdrawal
Posted: 08:00 AM ET

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) — A short-term memorandum of understanding setting
down a coalition troop withdrawal schedule has emerged as a key option in the
U.S.-Iraqi security talks.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, speaking in Dubai, said the
government at present is favoring a short-term accord. This comes as frustrated
negotiators have been trying to hammer out a long-term bilateral pact that
would cover security.

A U.N. mandate that sets down the parameters for coalition forces in Iraq
expires at the end of the year. The United States hopes to forge an agreement
with Iraq by the end of July, but there have been disagreements between both sides in the
talks.

Don't miss the interview with Vijay Kumar, an émigré from India who is seeking the Republican nomination in a Tennessee primary Congressional race set for August and is running on an anti-Sharia platform, at FrontPage. A sample:

The main focus of my campaign is the War on Terror. What so many politicians do not seem to realize is that our struggle is against more than just “terror.” Terrorism is simply a method, not an end itself. Terrorism is just one tactic being used by Islamic extremists in their effort to force their way of life on the rest of the world. Ultimately, then, this is a struggle over whether the nations of this world will be ruled under Sharia law or not. As Omar Ahmad, founder of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said: “Islam isn’t in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant.”

Huge blast at Hamas training base in Gaza

Story Highlights
# At least five people have been wounded, according to health officials
# Base is on site of evacuated Jewish settlement near Gaza city of Khan Younis
# A second, smaller blast was heard about 15 minutes after the first one

GAZA (AP) -- Witnesses and health officials say a huge blast rocked a training base run by the Islamic militant Hamas in southern Gaza, and at least five people have been wounded.

Ambulances raced to the scene of the blast late Tuesday on the site of an evacuated Jewish settlement next to the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis. The explosion could be heard all over the city.

It was not immediately known what caused the blast. Neither Hamas nor the Israeli military had an immediate comment.

Dr. Moaiya Hassanain of the Palestinian Health Ministry said two of the five wounded were in critical condition. He said all five were Hamas militants.

Witnesses said the blast destroyed the base, and a fire was burning there an hour afterward. They said a second, smaller blast was heard about 15 minutes after the first one. Hamas militants kept reporters away from the scene.

Israel and Hamas have been observing a truce that stopped Gaza rocket fire and Israeli reprisal raids.
