Some 30,000 people celebrated the summer solstice as dawn broke at Stonehenge in Wiltshire.

Druids, hippies and sun-worshippers were among those who gathered to watch the sun rise at the ancient stone circle at 0458 BST on the longest day.

Rainy conditions obscured the sunrise but the turnout was still the highest in five years.

Police said the event was peaceful, with 17 arrests overnight for public order offences.

As the dawn broke a cheer went up from revellers who gathered at the Heel stone - a pillar at the edge of the prehistoric monument.

Aaah... so the druids have had their annual SS in Stonehenge... always wondered what that ancient Woodstock is like... Time to PARTEEEEE! If you can open your eyes at 6am after a night of revelry, then you can see the rays of light come between some hewn rocks... big deal!
The reverence of Yahweh is the beginning of Wisdom.

I like being a part of Yah's family much better than lets say the above sun worship...Yah offers life and so much more. The only thing from the sun that left a mark was a burn and I hate sun-burns. Really what do people see in the above?

Tiffany asks, "Really, what do people see in the above?" What they see is a golden opportunity to worship the creature instead of the Creator, which they characterize as a good thing because the sun doesn't ask anything of them, doesn't want to have a personal relationship with anyone, and doesn't seem to have any concept of sin, of right or wrong. The perfect god: senile, benevolent, and totally disinterested. What's not to like? I wonder what the neo-Druids are going to think when the sun "god" turns on them during the Tribulation (see Revelation 15:8-9---the fourth bowl judgment).
