I recently watched a debate between well known author, polemicist, and Secular Humanist Christopher Hitchens and Dinesh D'Souza. The debate was held at the New York Society for Ethical Culture, in New York City and addressed the question, "Is Christianity the problem?"

Mr. Hitchens has published a book (which I think is still on the New York Times bestseller list) entitled, "God is Not Great: How Religions Have Poisoned Everything."

During the debate, he issues what he calls a "challenge for those who believe that morality must come from the supernatural." He says, "name me a moral action committed by a believer or an ethical statement uttered by one, that could not have been made by a non-believer?'

Then almost taunting the audience, he continued with, "but if you were asked to name an evil action preformed or a vile statement made by someone attributable only to their religion or faith, no one would hesitate."

There is a great quote from YY/Skia - Foreshadows, about Secular Humanists: "With Socialist Secular Humanists, they promise utopia on earth, and yet the more they are empowered, the more depraved and hellish earth becomes."

The debate is very interesting. In my opinion, D'Souza betters Hitchens. I have the complete debate uploaded to the YY Study Group room on PalTalk. If you stop by, I will be happy to play it for you. You can decide for yourself.
