When you use the English consonant W, as in mitswah, or sawah or Yahowah
should one give it an long vowel O sound, as in SNOW?
or the consonant W sound, as in wagon?

I pronounce it OW as in snow. |
Don't take my word for it, Look it up.

so Mitswah would be pronounced mits-o-ah, no consonant w sound in there at all? And Yahowah would be pronounced Yah -o -ah, no consonant w sound?

according to most grammars the waw is a vowel/consonant, so the consonant w sound is possible. After examining the most common Hebrew words found in scripture that contain it the ow pronunciation seems to be the most common by far, but I would not state for 100% certainty that one is right and the other wrong. |
