Shalom,
Looking into certain things, a covenant friend of mine suggested that there are four fasts in the Word. However, I only find them in Zech 8:18 and never in Moses' Torah or the Naby'. Also from studying, it seems that Yom Kippur may not be a fast, but instead a day of drawing near and trusting in Mashiyach, as he reconciled us to Yahowah. So are there any fast days instructed, or has Judaism thoroughly corrupted Yom Kippor and we should only fast if we are led to? Specifically what are these days is Zechariah? They are said to be days of joy and jubilation and a merry festival, which seems to contradict a day of fasting (at least for my family!). All my study tools show the word in Zech 8:18 to be tsom, to cover the mouth, to abstain from food. Please show me what I am missing! We want to honor Yah and draw close to Him, shedding any falsehood along the way. Thank you in advance for your considerate help as we learn. Shalom.
